I bet you know that Roy Rubin is the founder and CEO of Magento, the leading open source ecommerce platform. The good thing is that he is always open to any questions one may have on Magento.

So, a few days ago Roy Rubin has been interviewed by Brad Williams. The interview is a part of the SitePoint podcast and can be found on Sitepoint.com. You can either watch the video or read the interview transcript.

Magento Version 1.3.2.4 Launched

Have you missed Magento updates as much as we have? Well, it’s time to welcome Magento Version 1.3.2.4 that is now available to download from MagentoCommerce.com. Also, you can get it through the Magento Connect Manager.

Be sure to upgrade to the latest version if you still use Magento 1.3.x. Thus, you’ll make your Magento site even more secure.

If you upgrade through the Magento Connect Manager, you should only upgrade Mage_All_Latest package.

However, it isn’t recommended to perform an upgrade before you make a backup copy of your database.

SECURITY is the main keyword for Magento Version 1.3.2.4. So, it seems to be a riskless solution for those building ecommerce sites.

Poll Results: The Best Magento Theme Provider

Last week we published a poll asking you to vote for the best Magento Theme Provider, and the results were surprising. Why? It’s because we didn’t expect so many spammers. It was even funny to see multiple comments from the same person using the same IP address.

Initially, we were going to run this poll for a month or so. Unfortunately we must stop it today to prevent more spam.

Nevertheless, we thank everyone who took part in the poll. At the same time we are sorry for duplicate comments you had to read all week long. We’ll do our best to avoid this situation in the future.

As promised here goes an article telling about the winner. You may easily guess that it is MageSupport.com.

You are to decide if this company has the best Magento Themes or it inspires the largest number of spammers. What we know for sure is that this situation will be a good lesson for our blog. It’ll teach us to confront spammers.

So, let’s speak about MageSupport.com. It seems to be an India based company because its service phones are located in India. In fact 90% of spam comments have been submitted with Indian IP addresses.

The good thing is the company provides a lot of Magento Themes to choose from. Most of them look really attractive and trendy. Also, MageSupport delivers Magento Extensions and even a Free Magento Theme. As it is mentioned on Magesupport.com the company is ready to answer different Magento-related questions.

The official site of MageSupport seems to be an inviting one. There was only one sentence that made us doubt. It sounds so, “After 7 years in business, you can depend on us for all your Magento needs”. We don’t doubt MageSupport Team can be in business for 7 years or even longer but Magento has been available for download since March 31, 2008.

We wish all the best to MageSupport and hope we won’t be spammed by their fans again.
