eBay Acquires Magento
At the beginning of this month we learned that eBay is to acquire Magento and as a result Magento will become an integral part of eBay Inc’s open source platform, X.Commerce. According to Roy Rubin, Magento’s CEO and Co-founder, this change will positively influence the future of Magento and will give more opportunities for Magento designers and developers.
For now, Magento users won’t feel a big difference in their experience of Magento and it’s also important to mention that Magento will continue to support its current customers and partners. Further in the future it is expected that Magento will become an essential part of eBay Inc’s open source platform, X.Commerce.
The eBay team and the Magento team are true experts in eCommerce and we all hope their partnership will even redouble their forces.
Joining eBay Inc Magento hopes to become even more powerful and offer more to its customers and partners. By the way, Roy Rubin has arranged a list of answers to many questions you may have after learning this news. Feel free to check it out here.

What You Should Know About Magento Go and Magento Go Platform
The first you should know is that Magento team will launch Magento Go and Magento Go Developer Platform soon. So, let’s get into details.
Magento Go is an online service that allows anyone to start an eCommerce website. The best part about Magento Go is that no technical skills or software is required to use it! In other words, an online store owner can focus on products and marketing rather than solving the problems that only a web developer can solve.
As for Magento Go Platform, it’s a Platform as a Service (PaaS) solution that allows developers to build applications for Magento Go. By the way, as any other Platform as a Service, it removes the need for online merchants to handle the installation, set-up and troubleshooting.
On Wikipedia it says that “Platform as a Service (PaaS) is the delivery of a computing platform and solution stack as a service. PaaS offerings facilitate deployment of applications without the cost and complexity of buying and managing the underlying hardware and software and provisioning hosting capabilities[1], providing all of the facilities required to support the complete life cycle of building and delivering web applications and services entirely available from the Internet[2].”
Magento Go will be launched this month and it it’s expected to be used by online merchants all over the world, no matter how big the online store is and how good the store owner is at web design and web development.
